Lately in my readings with clients I have been coming across the “passionate” life purpose.  I hear a fairly common response to this particular life purpose and it generally goes something like this, “but I have so many passions, which one do I choose?”

I happen to have this life purpose myself and can completely resonate with the idea of having so many passions from which to choose that it is hard to try to focus on just one.  Instead, those with a passionate life purpose generally have a number of different interests and need to explore and cultivate ALL of those interests to be fulfilled.

One client in particular told me that she is never going to be happy in any one job because she just has too many interests and gets bored easily.  The solution for her, however, was to find a job that allowed her to explore all of those passions, instead of one that stifled them.  Have you ever felt like this?  Has anyone ever told you that you have activity or career ADD?  Do you typically want to flit from one thing to the next, but feel equally as excited about all of your pursuits?  I’m here to tell you there is NOTHING wrong with you.  In fact, you may be one of many people blessed with a passionate life purpose!

The thing about life purposes is that they have a good hair days and bad hair days.  Neither is “good” or “bad” per se, but the expression of this purpose can feel great or incredibly painful.  When people are living the passionate life purpose, they are doing just that – LIVING their passions – all of them – and letting go of the ones that don’t serve them.

When the bad hair day rears its head, it might feel like you are blocking your passions and it should serve as a roadmap (i.e. your hands calling attention in this particular area in your life).  I’m oversimplifying the concept here, but the question is, what is leading you to blocking these passions?  Do you have feelings of shame or boundary issues that may be preventing you from being able to fully express your passionate selves?  It’s a question worth asking yourself.

The good news is that even when you are feeling like your passions are blocked, maybe feeling stuck, shameful or victimized, these feelings can be exalted to allow you to live the fullest expression of your passionate life purpose.
